HVDC Line Fault Locator (LFL)

Manitoba Hydro developed a Line Fault Locator (LFL) for use on its Nelson River HVDC transmission lines, to pinpoint line faults to within a kilometer for all faults including end-of-line faults. We have been providing this unit to other HVDC transmission systems with an accuracy specification of ±0.5 km. Units have been supplied by MHI for HVDC systems in to Malaysia, Australia, India China.
